The issue of communication between Marlin board and Android OS (2 replies)

I would like to use an Android tablet to communicate with marlin board(STM32F40 or LPC1768). The physical interfaces of the boards are Type B usb, and the tablet have both USB host and rs232. I have tried both of them, but the board doesn't response.
May I ask if Android can connect with these two marlin boards, and how to do it? Thank you for your attention.

Hi, Anyone using Marlin Power loss recovery with the 1.1.9 Marlin?

The print is resuming after the power loss, but Z-axis is not moving up. It is printing in the same layer where the print was stopped. Z is not going up.
and get home Z first on lcd

Any solutions, please.

Problems with MKS Robin E3 with BLtouch, in Creality Ender 3 PRO (no replies)

Hello everyone, everything good?

I use Creality Ender 3 PRO. I bought the MKS Robin E3 board and managed to install the Marlin firmware normally. However I tried to install the BLTouch sensor together with the firmware and I am not getting success. I found Configuration.h and Configuration_adv.h for the printer. But even so, the BLTouch sensor recognizes, the extraction and retraction commands work, but the PB1 port in Bilinear calibration, at the beginning of printing it does not level with the table and I end up needing to use an Offset Z for each type of height on the table, as if I had manually calibrated it. I followed the tutorial posted by MKS and I couldn't get the sensor to work fully. Follow the wiki: MKS-Robin-E3-E3D - 3D_TOUCH

Another strange thing that my sensor only passed the expansion and retraction test when I inverted the pins S G 5V by 5V G S; and the same thing for PB1; that from S G - I had to change to G S.

Is this wiki really up to date? Does anyone have this card model and could help me in this configuration?

PlatformIO compile error (1 reply)

Hi there.
I have tried with the firmware version 2.0.6 and 2.0.6.1 as well with older version that failed to compile with PlatformIO.
I'm using Windows 10 and the platformIO version 1.48.0
Apparently after some updates on the PlatformIO, the compile keep giving same error although the library is inside the project path.

Attached is the configuration.h file which I used that compile with error message attached.

Thanks.

So as you can see VSCode says NO FIRMWARE FOR YOU ! And shoots me out some computer mumbojumbo I dont understand lol
I need serious help I've been at it for 4 months and everywhere I ask either goes unseen or nobody has a clue of how to remedy this.
I have a SKR Pro v1.1 with TMC2209's I planned on using in my Chiron with its stock LCD but yah I've yet to do so. It does have pretty lights on the board tho..lol
If someone can help me please that would be great !! I've attached my config files and a screenshot of the errors. And will post anything else you may need
Thank You !

I am ready to start the installation of VSCode / PlatformIO venture again!

The first time I installed VSCode / PlatformIO was having problems problems with installing Visual Studio 2017-2019 as the windows registry somehow got really corrupted.
After many windows backups restores determined the the registry had somehow been corrupted about 2 years ago I restored a older version of my Windows 7 Pro.
Have a program that the company has changed owners and therefore will not allow me to reload with all plugins without repurchasing a newer more expensive version.
The previously restored version of Windows 7 Pro has this program plus plugins enact or would re-installed the Windows 10 ver-2004 from scratch.
Have been working on my windows 7 and Windows 10 and all loaded programs for weeks now. Wanted to rebuild my broken registry Windows 7 for Backup.

Would like to install this correctly the first time, when it was installed first time only compile one time them had problems every time after that.
This could have been for many reasons, including the corrupted registry. Though after weeks of restoring would like a finish.

If could learn how to install VSCode / PlatformIO and setup to compile any Marlin 2 from this site should be able to learn from there!!!!!!
Not sure why I am having such big problems with VSCode / PlatformIO for compiling Marlin 2 using Arduino Mega 2560 and Ramps 1.6
Have written programs for many platforms, Operation systems using many computer languages BORLAND, COBOL, FORTRAN ... OMNIS, Visual Studio, to name a few.

TMC2208 Y Axis Sometime Doubles Movements and Speeds (no replies)

Hi folks,

I'm having this wierd issue at the moment with my printer (Wanhao i3 V2, SKR 1.4, TMC 2208 UART @ 1/16, Bltouch, Marlin 2.0.x) where randomly the printer will move double the distance and at twice the speed it is supposed to. Most commonly this happens at the beginning of a print when it is homing the Y axis and mid way through the travel it will speed up. Sometimes however if the bed homes properly the printer will print fine for a while and then appears to randomly double all movements on the Y axis. I have a theory that this might be caused by the Y axis stepper controller losing connection with the board mid print and causing the movements to double but I have no proof for this. Does anyone have any idea what may be causing this or any idea on how to troubleshoot this issue? I've attached my marlin config to this post to help. Thanks in advance.

Based on the documentation and guides available for UBL, I have followed the following sequence:
  1. Enabing UBL in the firmware
  2. Run G29 P1
  3. Then run G29 P3 to fill the blank spots
  4. Once I'm done with a good result, I did G29 F10, G29 S1, G29 L1, G29 A
  5. Then M500, M501, G28
  6. I wanted to show 0 for the z-axis while homed, so I typed G29 P6 Cxx whatever shown on the LCD, then M500, M501, G28 - so that I got 0 for z-axis value
  7. I then did the printing height by:
    1. Moving the print head to the middle of the bed
    2. Slowly lowering the nozzle until I got it at 0.1mm above the bed
    3. Then again did G29 P6 Cxx whatever number that was showing on the LCD now
    4. M500, M501, then G28
    5. Then tested a few times to make sure it is good
  8. In my slicer, I added G29 L1 and G29 A after the G28 command so that the UBL system gets activated.

After all the above, I don't seem to get a good first layer because as you see there is a warp in the bed and I was expecting that the levelling that I've done would correct this however where the warp is, I see the layer line squished and on the opposite side I see it actually thin and not really pushed to the bed.. I tried to observe the z-axis motors to see if any corrections are happening, but they just did not move for the whole first layer..

So is there anything of what I've done above not right? Or it is actually working but my bed is so badly bent that I need to replace it?

Appreciate any inputs or feedback on this!
Regards

Printer prints mirrored object (2 replies)

Dear all,
I am facing following issues in my Hypercube 3D printer:
1) I am using Hypercube 3D printer. Whenever I prints, my object gets printed as mirrored object.
So I tried to invert directions of X & Y motor. But it won't work. When I inverted directions of motors, I get to know that whenever I move one axis, my nozzel head moves in 2 directions at the same time. which is not correct. How can I resolve this problem?

2) also in pronterface I get message that "Error: volume. init failed" and also sometimes I couldn't print some object of due to memory shortage. That time I reduces the scale of object and then It gets printed. How can I resolve this problem?

3) My display don't works without USB of aurdino connected to the Computer (Even if 12V SMPS is ON). I am using aurdino mega 2560, ramps 1.4 and reprap Full graphics controller.
So as per some people's suggestions I tried to change the 5V IC of aurdino. So I changed that with "AMS 1117 LM1117 5.0 1013 1A " when I changed to this IC my aurdino started heating up and there was burning fragrance in my aurdino. So I again puted my previous IC into aurdino.
So in this case is my IC selection is wrong? What will be the alternative solution to this problem?

4) and my last issue is, earlier my display was showing me memory card into display. But now it is saying"No media".
As soon as I remove memory card it shows message that" media removed" and as soon as I insert it is says "media inserted" but still in options it says "No media"
How this happened?

I am in big problem. Please help me resolving these mentioned problems

Waiting for your prompt response.

Thanks and regards
Vishal

Problems with updating to marlim 2.0.6 (2 replies)

Good Morning!
I have a 3D of my own construction and I use RAMPS 1.4 as a controller.

with marlin 1.1.x it is working well.
When I update FW to 2.0.6 I start having problems with auto leveling.

I send the command to level, he starts leveling and on the x-axis he starts not to make the correct movements as if he were missing steps and ends up going off the table.

And random time is correct and time is lost.

Returning to FW 1.1.4 it starts to work normally.

Another problem I have is the heating of the hotend I can't heat more than 220 degrees, someone can give me a hint how I can increase this limit.

I have changed the stepper driver in marlin from A4988 to DRV8825 and i uploaded the marlin to the board.

NOW, do i need to change anything else? im sorry but im toooo young for this coding bla bla bla XD

but at least im trying to do something.

I hope if somebody can support me as usual from this forum.

Marlin 1.1.x bugfix homing issue (no replies)

Hello all,
I have the Tevo Tornado 2018 gold edition printer. This printer used the MKS_Gen_L 1.0 board and A4988 Green version stepper driver chips. I upgraded this printer to a E3D v6 Gold hotend and a Zesty Nimble v1.2 Direct Drive system. I also upgraded my PWS to a MeanWell PWS. Edited and upload Marlin 1.1.x bugfix version to the printer. Board ype in the Configuration.h file is the BOARD_MKS_GEN_L I then tried just moving the printhead in each of the 3 axis X, Y, Z. I had to reedit the Configuration.h file to correct the direction of the motors. I have that fixed. I then tried homing my printer. During an auto homing G28 the print head goes to the left until it hits the min endstoip for the X direction. Then it goes to the Y min direction. Then it goes on a diagonal direction where it stops at the center of the bed. On my printers LCD display it shows X150, Y150, Z0. I tried moving the printhead to X0, Y0, Z0 which is the left front of my printer.. I first turned of the Endstops off with a M211 S0 command. And I did a M428 to set the home position offset. I did a M500 to save. Then a M211 S1 to turn Endstops back on. Then I tried a G28. The printer still homes to the middle of the print bed. Lastly, I tried from the LCD display a Home X, then Home Y, then Home Z. Home X moves the head to the X0 position. Home Y moves the print head to the Y0 position, left front. Home Z moves the printhead on a Diagonal direction to the center of the printbed. I am not quite sure what I am doing wrong or if there is a bug in the marlin firmware.

Any help will be appreciated,

John

Marin 2.0 + Mks Sbase 1.3 - Ethernet port (no replies)

Hello, I have an MKS SBASE 1.3 board with Marlin 2.0 running ok.
The problem that I'm having is that the network port on the board is not working with Marlin, juts for testing, I have installed Smoothiboard, and network port works just fine, so discard board/hardware problems

I'm guessing that it's a confiuration issue, the USB port works fine, but the ethernet port on the board is blinking when connect a network cable, any Ideas?

Marlin managing current differently in 2.0.x?? (no replies)

I upgraded from Marlin 1.9.x to 2.0.7.
- I am using an Einsy Rambo with integrated TMC2130 drivers. I literally used the same currents from the 1.9.x version on the 2.0.7 and the motors barely have strenght to move.
- How is this possible? Is the new marlin managing current in a different way?

I am using stealthchop on both versions.

XYZ Current 700
E0 Current 800

Those values are the same on both 1.9.x versions and 2.0.7.

Cheers,
JJ

Aurdino issue (Some of unanswered queries from previous post) (no replies)

also in pronterface I get message that "Error: volume. init failed" and also sometimes I couldn't print some object of due to memory shortage.

Vishal

Anycubic Chiron Help LPC1769 BTT SKR 1.4 Turbo + Stock Screen (no replies)

Hello Everyone,

I am hoping to find some answers to why I cannot compile firmware for this setup. Starting with this fork of the Marlin Bug-fix-2.0.x firmware made by SwiftNick - Full Chiron Support

In short I am getting some warnings relating to undefined references in anycubic_tft.cpp and anycubic_chiron_lcd.cpp.
My experience level is novice when it comes to programming, or I would probably be making sense of this.

Using vscode and platformio to compile the firmware. I believe I managed the config.h, config_adv.h, and all the pins files for the SKR 1.4 Turbo correctly.
Not certain if there is a way to bypass strict mode? This may not be advisable I am guessing. Just wanting to get some testing done of basic systems on the printer, I don't necessarily need the touch screen but ultimately want it working.

I am using Linux Mint 19.1 Cinnamon version 4.15.0-66-generic and believe I am not missing any dependent libraries or so I think.

Any and all help is appreciated, thank you very very much.

Here is a log from the terminal: note: I did catch this warning and resolve it in a previous attempt "this 'if' clause does not guard... [-Wmisleading-indentation]"
I believe it was a tab being used instead of the proper spacing to indent.
